Our Chocolate Farm Eco-Tour

Green Acres is an amazing place. It is much more than a chocolate farm. The property is one of the most beautiful places we've been, and the education Gary provides about the chocolate production, trees, property, and wildlife is fascinating. He is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about taking care of the planet as well as helping the local Bocas community.

If you have the chance, it is well worth the visit!

The adventure begins with the boat ride from town, through beautiful Dolphin Bay where you might spot dolphins on the way.

The Chocolate Farm Tour includes:

history of the property and the farm
hike along a path through the rainforest
see indigenous trees and medicinal plants and learn how many traditional uses are still in practice
experience the plantation of cacao trees
taste cacao straight from the tree
learn more about our cacao farming methods
in our "chocolate factory", see the cacao at various stages of production

Back at the house you will have the opportunity to chat and ask questions while having a cool drink and, trying samples of our homemade chocolate products. All of our products are available for purchase.

In 1996 Linda and Dave Cerutti purchased an abandoned cocao plantation on the shores of Dolphin Bay in Panama.

Their new plantation included the rare Criollo cacao tree - only five percent of all cacao beans grown.

The Cerutti's rejuvenated the existing Criollo trees and planted additional cacao and many beautiful botanical plants and trees on the 30 acres. Their twenty years of dedicated and careful eco-management set the foundation for Green Acres Chocolate Farm.

Planet Rehab, our grassroots nonprofit organization, founded by Gary Mitchell, is dedicated to protecting and restoring our Earth's ecosystems, species, and natural resources, and in 2019 established an outpost at Green Acres to be better able to focus on our initiatives. Gary remains deeply committed to protecting the environment and enjoys the opportunity to provide daily educational tours of the beautiful rainforest that he calls home.
